GOTS: label for fair trade
GOTS, also known as Global Organic Textile Standards was introduced in 2006 by colloboration by leading standard setters with the aim of securing the harvesting of textiles and socially responsible manufacturing.
Most of the fashion brands are increasingly using this label due to Corporate Social Responsibility. Fashion brands that use GOTS label on their products make use of:
- Social and environmental standards
- Safe and hygienic working conditions
- Fair wage
- No child labour
- No use of bleach, formaldehyde or any other toxic substances
Why would a company become a Corporate Social Responsibility?
Most of the consumers are beware of the emission which has been made my themselves, large companies and fabrics. Our world can not take emissions anymore. The textile industry is by far the most growing industry since early 2000s. We need to change our operations and make it more sustainable otherwise we will even more destroy our beautiful earth.
In short, there are more often companies that take the environment into account. You can easily find these companies by searching for a GOTS label on their website or products. Goodluck by finding a environmental friendly fashion brand!
